Pantheon Theater

The Pantheon Theater, located at 4650 North Sheridan Road, was one of several movie houses that contibuted to the Uptown neighborhood's bustling entertainment scene during the 1920s and 1930s. The theater opened in September 1918 and cost $750,000 to build. With seats for nearly 3,000 patrons, the Pantheon was the largest movie house ever built in the city of Chicago. Among the Pantheon's early attractions was a double organ and performances by Alexander Zukovski's thirty-piece orchestra. The theater was initially managed as part of the Lubliner and Trinz movie theater circuit, then later as part of the Essaness circuit.
